What is a Food Council?
A Food Council is a collaborative group of stakeholders from various sectors who come together to shape and advocate for policies and changes that build a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable food system. The Schenectady County Food Council embodies this by uniting local farmers, educators, health professionals, business leaders, policymakers, and residents to enhance food security, support local agriculture, and ensure equitable access to nutritious food throughout Schenectady County.
Our Mission
Through community engagement, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration, we ensure a space for all to identify community-driven solutions for a nourishing and resilient food system.
Our Vision
We envision a Schenectady County where all residents have equitable access to nourishing and culturally appropriate foods that are provided by a locally-rooted, regenerative, and resilient food system.
