Get Involved with the Schenectady County Food Council
Creating a healthier, more equitable, and food-secure Schenectady County starts with community involvement. Whether you're a resident, community organization, food producer, educator, advocate, or simply passionate about improving food access, there's a place for you at the table.
Access &
Equity
Prioritizes listening to the experiences & perspectives of community members affected by food access challenges, emphasizing a bottom-up approach to learning from & engaging with residents. Drawing insights from a range of stakeholders, with a specific focus on identifying critical connection points, potential blockages, and bridges within the system.
Advocacy &
Empowerment
Empower all stakeholders in our local food system, with a focus on people with lived experience of nutrition insecurity, to engage in systems change at all levels of government
Roots to
Resilience
Strengthen Schenectady County’s local food system by connecting residents to land, knowledge, and one another across rural, suburban, and urban growing spaces. We bring together residents, growers, and partners, including community-based and forprofit farmers, supporting land stewardship through sustainable agriculture and equitable access to locally grown food.
